IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the test accepted for migration, work or entry to university.  The IELTS measures your English language proficiency –  listening, reading, speaking, and writing, with 9 bands.  The score you need depends on the country visa requirements, whether you plan to migrate, work or study.

There are two test versions, General Training or Academic.  The IELTS General Training tests your ability to use English in a social and workplace.  The IELTS Academic test tests people who want to study, e.g., at college or university.  The speaking and listening tests are the same, only the reading and writing tests are different.

Often, learners find they score lower in one or more areas, which means their overall banding will drop.  Some will find one or more of the tests easier than the others.  There is no fixed pattern, and each student has to be coached on an individual basis.

I can help you if you need that extra bit to improve one or more areas.  It’s about finding the right person to help you.
